Why 1924?
As a fashion designer I have always had passion for color and with my background in fine arts I find myself "painting with fabric", either it was all those 17 years, while creating and running my children's clothing line ZAZA couture, or now rescuing and reusing old vintage linens and other beautiful things.
In 2016 I did renovate our country house and I realized that all I want are linen bedding, linen tablecloth, linen napkins, linen pillows. All pure, natural linen. I remember myself as a child when my grandma very highly spoke of her linens from 1920s, that they are healthy, natural and very good for you. Then I did not like them, I wanted everything colorful with big flowers and I did not care much about material. Now the times have changed, and my mind has changed. I am in love with all those qualities that our grandparents prized almost 100 years ago. I still have grandma's linens and they are going strong. One day while working on farmhouse I opened these doors to a shed and saw beautiful handwriting 1924. I counted back. My grandpa was 22 years old when he made and installed these doors. I fell in love with the date and a thought that this writing has withstand 100 years, withstand WWII and all the changes that followed in Eastern Europe. I knew I will keep it going and started to work on the logo for my new Etsy store "1924 linens and more" where I offered linen bedding, by making it. Later it became harder to find new quality linen fabric and I slowly shifted onto small vintage linens and started to create inspirational bundles for junk and art journaling or slow stitching. It has become passion of mine. I was lucky to find wonderful ladies, who used to have vintage and lace shops and acquired my first inventory.
I am in love with everything vintage as you can see from my shop, I love finding unique precious gifts. Here in New England, where history is in every corner, treasure hunt is very interesting.
